    VACANCY: Assistant Veterinary Officer

    Work Station: Semuto, Nakaseke District 

    Job Purpose

    To support the effectiveimplementation of poultry health, biosecurity, and veterinaryprogrammes across company farms and Out-Grower Scheme (OGS) farms,ensuring flock health, productivity, and compliance with veterinarystandards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Biosecurity & Farm Health

    1.Enforce strict biosecuritystandards across all farms and OGS locations.

    2.Ensure all poultry houses andsurrounding areas are cleaned, disinfected and /before chickplacement.

    3.Conduct regular farm and OGSvisits to monitor flock health and environmental conditions.

    4.Investigate, document and reportany abnormal mortality immediately to the Veterinary Manager.

    Vaccination, Medication &Disease Control

    1.Implement and monitor approvedvaccination and medication schedules.

    2.Conduct post-mortems andmortality surveys to establish causes of death.

    3.Collect and submit blood, swaband diagnostic samples to laboratories on time.

    4.Monitor vaccine cold-chaintemperature loggers to ensure product effectiveness.

    Records, Reporting & StockControl

    1.Maintain accurate health,treatment and biosecurity records.

    2.Track vet stock dispatches andupdate Navision weekly.

    3.Conduct weekly stock takes usingFIFO (First In, First Out) principles.

    4.Submit weekly farm visit, stockand mortality reports to the Veterinary Manager.

    Training & Compliance

    1.Train farm and OGS staff onbiosecurity, disease control and SOPs.

    2.Participate in quarterlybiosecurity audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

    3.Maintain training registers andaudit reports.

    4.Ensure compliance with veterinarylaws, SOPs and company standards.

    Quality Assurance

    1.Conduct chick quality assessmentsat placement and report findings.

    2.Monitor environmental conditionsand hygiene standards across farms.

    Key Performance Indicators

    •Completion of quarterlybiosecurity audits

    •Timely vaccination andmedication compliance

    •Weekly PM and mortality reportssubmitted

    •100% accuracy of vet stock andNavision records

    •On-time sample submission andlab reporting

    •Effective SOP implementation andmonitoring

    Minimum Position Requirements

    •Bachelor’s Degree inVeterinary Medicine

    •Minimum 3 years’ experience,including at least 2 years in poultry production

    •Strong knowledge of poultryhealth and biosecurity

    •Computer literacy (Word, Excel,PowerPoint)

    •Good communication skills inEnglish
